Going to Liberty as a minority can be difficult because the white people have only come in contact with seemingly only other white people, so the reality they live in differs from the 20% of minority students. I did make good friends there and my experience was mostly good.

I am currently enrolled at Liberty (2019). The academics are sub-par and behavioral issues are rampant. There is, however, a great theater/band program run by caring teachers. The sports teams usually do well in the tournaments they partake in. Many teachers seem like they want to be there (though there's are definitely those who don't). I am not impressed by the lack of stimulating class work (or even just classes in general). The school performs poorly on testing because the majority of the students there have no regard for their future and just don't care. It's difficult to be surrounded by slackers. That being said, there are certainly wonderful people/students/teachers at Liberty! It just takes a conscious effort to stay in with the good crowd sometimes. The school obviously has a lack of funding, which can be seen in the disrepair of the overhangs over the walkways and the lack of recent textbooks and technology.

The marching band and football team are amazing. I love LHS. It's my favorite school I've ever been to.

Teachers in 19 States Allowed to Physically Punish Students
As of 2014, nineteen states still allow corporal punishment – spanking and paddling the most common choices – in their public schools. However, some argue that not only are these punishments physically harmful, they also are disproportionately administered to students of color. As a result, House democrats have taken up the issue in a new bill that would ban all forms of corporal punishment nationwide.
