School Reviews

The person who posted the previous review obviously needs more schooling, due to the fact that their review was one huge Run-on sentence. Summit Elementary/Cherry Creek Schools are outstanding. The teachers are great, the nurse is great, and Ms. Rubio is great. They DO include parents in decision making, but you DO have to look in your child's backpack after they get home. It sounds like this individual is of the few parents to whom steadfast involvement in a child's academic career is just too much after a hard day of waiting tables or selling pencils from a cup.

The teachers at this school seem to be nice, however as a parent I do not feel that they have the best interest of the child in mind. They have art class, music class and gym, and as far as I can see those programs are wonderful. The 'homeroom' teachers do not include parents on choices such as sending a child into a 'special' reading class and showing them that they will get ice cream parties and stickers that they do not get in their normal classes, when the child does not need the class in the first place. Then of course the child wants to be in that class, because they get ice cream and stickers and they laugh and play, who wouldn't want to do that instead of regular class work? I myself went to a Cherry Creek School, as did three of my sibling, I was in high school, one sibling was in middle school and the other two were in elementary school and all four of us had problems with the schools. There is a reason Cherry Creek Schools get so much funding, but are you really sure you want to be the one to find out why I should have known better then to trust the Cherry Creek Schools, but after 10 years I thought maybe they had changed. I was wrong and now I get to fight the battle with the school like my mother did so many years ago. I would NOT recommend ANY Cherry Creek School, to any one, ever.

Teachers in 19 States Allowed to Physically Punish Students
As of 2014, nineteen states still allow corporal punishment – spanking and paddling the most common choices – in their public schools. However, some argue that not only are these punishments physically harmful, they also are disproportionately administered to students of color. As a result, House democrats have taken up the issue in a new bill that would ban all forms of corporal punishment nationwide.
